WUT Devlog 2: Cutbacks + Where have I been?
Hello! Sorry for the long wait,
but I've been having a lot of trouble in regards to getting the proper motivation to work on the project, but now, I realize it was probably due to a lack of significant visual progress. I had been working with simple dev textures and animations and it made for an unappealing project to look at visually, and just looked generally low tech.
So now, I'm going to switch to a different method of developing Teniad, namely vertical slice development, which would involve me creating what would be a "vertical slice" of the fully finished game. At the bare minimum it would let me get a handling on the visual style and what works and what doesn't about gameplay, and at best it would provide a foundation for what could make a very early demo to get your thoughts as to where I should go with the game.
Which leads me to cutbacks, I'm a solo programmer and a lot of the ambitions I had for the game earlier on now just don't seem feasible without a more competent programmer to help. Namely there will most likely be only one playable character at a time, and I'd significantly have to cut back on some of my more advanced gameplay ambitions that I can't go into without spoiling portions of the story.
Most of my effort right now is being spent on how to decorate Teniad's room and such, getting across her personality and establishing some set in stone things about the world. My prior prototyping has helped me work out some of the gameplay concerns so now I can afford to work on the visual aspect more heavily. Sorry for the long wait!
Wake Up, Teniad!
